The Dark Forest

Trisolarans have locked down Earth's science and sent a massive fleet. Facing this crisis, humanity establishes the 'Wallfacer Project'. Sociologist Luo Ji is chosen as one of four Wallfacers to devise a secret counterattack. While Trisolarans monitor everything via Sophons, they cannot read minds. Luo Ji discovers the 'Dark Forest' theory of cosmic sociology.

The war has shown humanity the dark truth of the universe. The deterrence that held two civilizations in balance is ended when the swordholder changes. Cheng Xin, the new swordholder, makes a choice out of love that pushes humanity into the abyss. The solar system faces destruction by a dual-vector foil.
